A Day Out with Waggum Ladies' Choir to the Openair Theatre in Bad Gandersheim.

Our arrival in Bad Gandersheim, courtesy Ulli Reisen Coaches.  It was too hot!

Bad Gandersheim is a spa town, just like Bath, where the hot mineral spring water is used to cure various complaints.  Judging my the state of my right shoulder just lately, I will soon need some warm heat on that particular old age joint!

I travelled with Waggum Ladies Choir, with whom I sing each summer during my stay in Germany.  They are such a merry band of women, mostly my age, and full of fun.  Hopefully this choir will be visiting Bath in late May 2017, and arrangements are in hand for them to stay and be welcomed in Bath, as part of the Bath-Braunschweig Twinned Towns initiative.

On arrival we tucked into tasty German cake and drank coffee and plenty of water in hot temperatures of around 28 c.

I cannot find any information about the town in English, but the following can be read in English if you scroll down on the left hand side until you come to "In anderen Sprachen, In other languages" and then click on English.

We watched a musical-comedy called, "Highway to Hellas, The Germans are Coming," a play and also a film about German/Greek relations during the recent financial problems in Greece.  Both sides displayed the usual stereotyping of each country, with the Germans being portrayed as workaholics with a sense of economic order, and the Greeks as fun loving, Ouzo drinking sunbathers.

This play, and also a film was written by two German writers, so if you think the Germans have no sense of humour, you are sadly mistaken!!

It all ends happily, with the main German character falling in love with a pretty Greek lady, who teaches him to drink Ouzo and relax in the sunshine.

Enjoying an Italian meal on our homeward journey.

Some of my lovely choir friends enjoying an Italian meal on the way home.  I ordered No. 36, but actually ate No. 37.   I must learn to distinguish Penne from Tagliatelle!  The meal tasted wonderful, especially downed with a small beer.

Cheers to everyone who made the day so special, and to Monika, the choir´s secretary, who works so hard for the benefit of everyone.   She´s a very special lady.
